It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Carr Junior School where we are proud of all of our Carr Stars and their achievements.
There is something very special about our school and we are incredibly proud of it! We feel privileged to work with such curious and enthusiastic learners, inspirational staff, supportive parents and a forward-thinking Local Governing Body. We believe in giving every child the knowledge and skills to aim high and the confidence and determination to shine bright.
We’d love to welcome you to our wonderful school.
Vicki Kerr |Â Principal
Children are nurtured and encouraged to develop attributes such as confidence, resilience and independence as well as an understanding of British values in order that they are fully prepared for life in 21st Century Britain, and indeed, the world.Â
Equality and diversity are promoted and celebrated throughout school and we are very proud of a curriculum which equips our children with the knowledge, skills and understanding to lead happy, safe and healthy lives whilst enabling them to develop their talents and strive for their goals. Our motto, ‘Aim High, Shine Bright’ is built upon these principles.Â
These wider experiences help our pupils to develop as confident, responsible citizens, to provide rich cultural capital, as well as depth of learning.
High quality activities and experiences are an essential part of school life. They provide opportunities to enrich and deepen children’s learning beyond the curriculum and are an excellent medium to foster good relationships between staff, pupils and parents. They develop children’s social skills by providing a forum of interaction between children across different ages and schools. These opportunities are matched to our staff’s expertise and interests and make the most of the resources we have in school.
Prevention and education are the best methods for keeping students safe. Across our curriculum, we teach our students how to stay safe.
Take a look at this range of pages and links on topics that will help you understand how to keep your child safe, spot danger signs and offer you support and help.
We aim to nurture happy, healthy, curious and confident individuals who have the skills they need to face life (and all its challenges) head on. Our Carr Character focuses on our core values.
We believe that by nurturing and prioritising these values within our school community we are developing a combination of transferable personal, social and emotional life skills which become the tools for leading a happy and healthy life. These values are now embedded in our school ethos and environment, emphasised both in and out of classes and celebrated weekly in our VIP Learner assemblies through Carr Character and Gold awards.
